PHiLARC - The No. 1 Choice of Welders

PHILHARD NiMn

AWS Specification : AWS EFeMn-A

JIS Specification:

Other Specification:

I. APPLICATIONS:

Surfacing of boring mills, crusher teeth, dipper teeth, rail crossings and filling up cavities of high manganese cast iron

II. DESCRIPTION :

PHILHARD NiMn is a basic coated which electrode which deposits weld metal containing 12 – 14% manganese with approximately 3% nickel. The deposit has a reduced tendency for cracking and heat embrittlement compared with plain 12 – 14% manganese weld metal. Suitable for building up worn 14% manganese steel components. It is not recommended for joining manganese steel to mild or to itself.

     III. NOTES ON WELDING:

  • Preheating at more than 300ºC followed by very slow cooling is required.

  • Multiple layers should be avoided.

  • A buffer layer with austenitic stainless steel electrode is recommended to prevent peeling of bead.

  • Electrodes should be redried at 200-250ºC for 1 hour before use.

The information contained or otherwise referenced herein is presented only as “typical” without guarantee or warranty, and Industrial Welding Corporation expressly disclaims any liability incurred from any reliance thereon. Typical data and Test results for mechanical properties, deposit or electrode composition and other properties were obtained from a weld produced and tested according to prescribed standards, and should not be assumed to be the expected results in a particular application or weldment. Actual results will vary depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, weld procedure, plate chemistry and temperature, weldment design and fabrication methods. Users are cautioned to confirm by qualification testing, or other appropriate means, the suitability of any welding consumable and procedure before use in the intended application.
