AWS Specification: AWS A5.18 ER 70S-6
I. APPLICATIONS:
Fabrication, construction and repair maintenance work, structural steels,
machinery and construction equipment, truck bodies, auto parts, farm implements,
storage tanks, ornamental iron works, metal furniture, bicycles, sheet metals, etc.
For all position welding, weld with CO2 gas or DC reverse polarity. Designed for
welding of unalloyed steels, e.g. general structural steels and pressure vessel steels with a minimum, tensile strength of max. 530 N/mm2 as well as for fine-
grained carbon-manganese steels for the same purpose with a yield strength of min. 420 N/mm2.
II. DESCRIPTIONS:
For welding of mild steel and 490 N/mm2 H.T. steel and aluminum killed steel for
low temperature use.
