I. APPLICATIONS:

Low hydrogen for low temperature welding of line pipes in the field.

II. DESCRIPTIONS:

PA-8016-C3 is a nickel-alloyed electrode designed for the welding of 1%Ni steel or high tensile steel with impact requirements down to -45°C. In addition to its good welding performance in all position, this electrode contains 1%Ni in the weld metal to obtain the qualified impact value and good X-ray performance and usability.

III. NOTES ON USAGE:

  • Pay attention not to exceed proper heat-input because excessive heat-input causes deterioration of impact values and yield strength of weld metal.

  • Preheat at  50-100°C at the postheat at 600-620°C. The preheat temperature varies in accordance with the plate thickness and kind of steels.

  • Dry the electrodes at 350-400°C for about one hour before use

  • Adopt back step method or strike the arc on a small steel plate prepared for this particular purpose to prevent blowholes at the arc starting.

  • Keep the arc as short as possible.

The information contained or otherwise referenced herein is presented only as “typical” without guarantee or warranty, and Industrial Welding Corporation expressly disclaims any liability incurred from any reliance thereon. Typical data and Test results for mechanical properties, deposit or electrode composition and other properties were obtained from a weld produced and tested according to prescribed standards, and should not be assumed to be the expected results in a particular application or weldment. Actual results will vary depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, weld procedure, plate chemistry and temperature, weldment design and fabrication methods. Users are cautioned to confirm by qualification testing, or other appropriate means, the suitability of any welding consumable and procedure before use in the intended application.
