PHiLARC - The No. 1 Choice of Welders

PA-11018-M

AWS Speicification : A5.5 E11018-M

JIS Specification : NONE

Other Specification: DIN 8529 EY 6975 Mn2NiCrMo B

I. APPLICATIONS:

Welding of 780 N/mm2 class high tensile strength steel for penstocks, pressure vessels and machinery.

II. DESCRIPTIONS:

The PA-11018-M is designed for applications requiring at least 100,000 psi tensile strength, good ductility and crack resistance along with high notch toughness at temperatures of -60ºF. Low alloy steels typically welded with PA-11018-M include HY-80, HY-100 and T-1 steels.

III. NOTES ON USAGE:

  • Dry the electrodes at 350-400ºC for one hour before use.

  • Store the electrodes at 100-150oC after drying them with attention to keep away from moisture.

  • Adopt back step method or strike the arc on a small steel plate prepared for this particular purpose, because arc striking on base metal is in danger of initiating cracking.

  • Keep the arc as short as possible.

  • Preheat at 150-200oC. The temperature varies in accordance with plate thickness and steel kind

  • Pay attention not to exceed proper heat-input because excessive heat-input causes deterioration of impact values and yield strength of weld metal.

TEST RESULT

The information contained or otherwise referenced herein is presented only as “typical” without guarantee or warranty, and Industrial Welding Corporation expressly disclaims any liability incurred from any reliance thereon. Typical data and Test results for mechanical properties, deposit or electrode composition and other properties were obtained from a weld produced and tested according to prescribed standards, and should not be assumed to be the expected results in a particular application or weldment. Actual results will vary depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, weld procedure, plate chemistry and temperature, weldment design and fabrication methods. Users are cautioned to confirm by qualification testing, or other appropriate means, the suitability of any welding consumable and procedure before use in the intended application.
