PHiLARC - The No. 1 Choice of Welders

PA-9018-M

WS Speicification : A5.5 E9018-M

JIS Specification : NONE

Other Specification: NONE

I. APPLICATIONS:

Welding of 60kgf/mm2 class high tensile strength steel for pressure vessels, bridges, penstocks, vehicles, offshore constructions vehicles and machinery. Fillet tack welding of T1, HY80, HY90 steels.

II. DESCRIPTIONS:

PA-9018-M is an iron powder low hydrogen type electrode for all-position welding, which provides good notch toughness of weld metal at low temperature. The usability and X-ray soundness of weld metal are good in all-position welding.

III. NOTES ON USAGE:

  • Dry the electrodes at 300-350ºC for one hour before use.

  • Adopt back step method or strike the arc on a small steel plate prepared for this particular purpose because arc striking on the base metal is in danger of initiating cracking.

  • Keep the arc as short as possible.

  • Preheat at 80-100°C before use.

  • Pay attention not to exceed proper heat-input because excessive heat-input causes deterioration of impact values and yield strength of weld metal.

The information contained or otherwise referenced herein is presented only as “typical” without guarantee or warranty, and Industrial Welding Corporation expressly disclaims any liability incurred from any reliance thereon. Typical data and Test results for mechanical properties, deposit or electrode composition and other properties were obtained from a weld produced and tested according to prescribed standards, and should not be assumed to be the expected results in a particular application or weldment. Actual results will vary depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, weld procedure, plate chemistry and temperature, weldment design and fabrication methods. Users are cautioned to confirm by qualification testing, or other appropriate means, the suitability of any welding consumable and procedure before use in the intended application.
