PHILARC BRONZE
AWS Specification:ECuSn-C
JIS Specification: DCuSnB
Other Specification: DIN 1733: S-Cu Sn 7
I. APPLICATIONS:
-
Repair and surfacing of gearwheels, bearings, pumps, impellers, turbines, valve bodies and defects in new castings.
-
For joint welding and hardfacing on copper and copper-alloys
-
Suitable for welding a wide range of bronzes, brass and copper-alloys
-
Wide variety of general fabrication applications such as bar, sheet castings, stampings, valves, pump parts, and electrical housing.
-
Also for overlaying a bearing surface on steel, repair of broken iron castings, cracked engine water jackets and cylinder heads.
-
For copper and its alloys, galvanized iron, cast iron, malleable iron, joining brass or bronze to steel, machine parts consisting of the foregoing metals as piston rock, gears, guides, water wheels, ship propellers, impeller blades, bearing, brushing, motor end rings, valve sets, contact points, coupling pipings, etc.
II. DESCRIPTION:
PHILARC BRONZE is a special tin-bronze electrode for joining and surfacing on DC (+). It has a smooth arc that produces dense porosity free deposits in all positions and welds an excellent color match to bronze.
III. NOTES ON USAGE:
-
Clean parent metal of rust, paint, seals, oil, grease and moisture to insure sound porosity free welds.
-
Because copper has high heat conductivity, preheating and interpass temperature are required for heavy sections (5mm & more)
For phosphor bronze and gun metal…………………………………….. 150 – 200ºC
For brass …………………………………………………………………… 250 – 300ºC
No preheat is required to this section (less than 5.0mm) or on ferrous based materials.
-
Don’t use too much weaving. The bead width should be kept within 3 times or rod diameter.
-
Apply hot peening on every bead because the structure of deposited metals rough at as welded condition. Hot peening is effective to improvement of mechanical properties.
